Review: 4K or Ultra HD resolution is the cutting edge of video entertainment, and with the Samsung F7500 Blu-ray Disc Player, you can be one of the first to experience this awesome new way to watch videos. Tagged as the company's latest flagship media player, the F7500 is a bundle of next-generation features wrapped in a sleek, beautiful design. The front of the unit has the same clean, minimalist look as other modern media players, with touch-sensitive control panels replacing physical buttons and a single-line LCD display recessed into the face of the unit. A plastic flap beside the display hides a USB port for connecting external storage. The body of the unit is encased in a stylish silver metal wrap that gives it a handsome touch, complementing the look of your other multimedia equipment. A 900MHz, dual-core processor provides the processing muscle for the Samsung F7500. This allows the unit to power through its key offerings, like upscaling video to Ultra High Definition resolution, as well as 3D rendering with nary a hitch. However, the F7500 doesn't support content conversion from 2D to 3D. On the other hand, standard Blu-ray discs and DVDs play wonderfully on the F7500, with the added bonus of being upscaled as well. One major advantage the Samsung F7500 has over the competition is the virtual library of file formats that it supports. While most players from other manufacturers are only able to play one or two types of files, the F7500 is able to decode MKV, MP4 and more formats in addition to AVI files, removing the need to convert files from one format to another. The Samsung F7500 can fill in for TVs without Internet connectivity with its LAN and wireless connectivity options. Along with the fully-featured web browser, the F7500 has the revamped Smart Hub apps suite, which includes rich content like streaming media and social networking. In an interesting move, the Samsung F7500 supports USB input devices like keyboards or mice to solve the problem of clumsy web browsing with remote controls. In addition, the F7500 supports Samsung's AllShare Streaming and Mirroring Technology, allowing content across other Samsung devices to be shared easily. The Samsung F7500 Blu-ray Disc Player has two HDMI ports for connectivity; this allows the player to connect to the TV and a digital audio output like a receiver at the same time. However, a set of 7.1 Analog audio outputs are present if you don’t have digital audio. The problem is, the unit doesn't come with HDMI cables, so remember to pick some up. Also, the 4K upscaling feature requires that high-speed HDMI cables be used to prevent stuttering. In summary, the Samsung F7500 Blu-ray Disc Player provides the best set of features to pick if you're into future-proofing your AV setup. Everything about the F7500 just feels premium, and the performance is proof of it. The only downsides to this excellent unit – the lack of 2D to 3D conversion and the slightly awkward web browsing – don't distract as much as they would in an average device. All in all, this is an excellent Blu-ray player to consider.
