From bird watching to sports, there are many different uses for binoculars. This is why having a good pair is necessary. Binoculars differ in construction, lens elements and zoom capabilities. Some are even weather- and water-proof. TIPS
  1. Binoculars come in two kinds: The more common porro-prism style and the less-common roof prism variation.
  2. Consider ruggedized binoculars that protect the delicate lens elements inside from water and sudden shocks.
  3. If you wear glasses, pick binoculars with long eye relief, but remember that too much eye relief can also have an effect on your binoculars' field of view, since eyeglasses will prevent the viewing ends of the binoculars to get close to your eyes.
  4. A binoculars' exit pupil rating determines how bright the viewed image will seem to your eyes.

Pros: Well-made, Great light-gathering ability, Long eye relief, Easy to use, Modest price
Cons: No tripod mount, Heavy, Slight fringing

Review: Take the VanGuard Endeavor ED 1045 binoculars to your outdoor adventures. Featuring BaK4 roof prisms, Extra low-Dispersion, ED glass and multiple layers of coatings including V-Max Silver, P2 Phase and Anti-Reflection coatings, you can bask yourself in truly bright and sharp images. Colors appear more lifelike, only having slight fringing, and focusing is very simple, only needing the central focusing knob to be turned. The binoculars are modestly-priced so that anyone can take pleasure in its wide viewing angle and stunning clarity. It only gets better as it already includes a Premium Lifetime Warranty and a nice set of accessories like a strap, a lens cloth, a carrying case, push-on lens caps and an eyepiece rainguard. The VanGuard Endeavor ED 1045, ideal for bird watching and for sports or outdoors, is nitrogen-charged and o-ring sealed, meaning that it is fully waterproof and fogproof. A long eye relief of 17.0mm permits a wider field of view and enables eyeglass wearers to use the binoculars comfortably with their eyeglasses on. The slight purple fringing reported by some owners is noticeable and could be annoying, especially to those who’ve had more expensive binoculars, but given the price of this particular model, it could be quickly overlooked by casual users. Perhaps, the real downsides of the VanGuard Endeavor ED 1045 are its considerable weight and lack of tripod mount. At 760g, it wouldn’t take long before the binoculars could make the user’s arm feel tired. Carrying or wearing them around your neck through a neck strap would also start to feel uncomfortable after a few hours. A tripod mount would’ve been a great solution, offering shake-free, more pleasant viewing, but unfortunately, the binoculars are not equipped with one.
